Our Chef
Meet Chef Makoto Okuwa
Chef Makoto Okuwa learned to cook the way most of us did: watching someone he loved do it first. His mother, now nearly 80, still moves through a kitchen fast, using grocery store ingredients (and no recipe) to create simple, incredible dishes. His grandmother taught cooking school. And he started making sushi at a young age and just never stopped.
Through skilled cooking, seasonal ingredients and food made to taste the meaning behind it, that same care and intention runs through every dish served at Suzu.
